My Story

Hello and thank you for visiting my page. I've signed up to take part in Royal British Legion (RBL) Pedal to Paris event. A four-day bike ride from London to Paris. By taking part in this challenge I'll be raising funds to support the RBL. Their Poppy Appeal was founded to help those in need following a national crisis. Right now they are helping those who are isolated from family, facing homelessness, struggling to feed their children and are in financial crisis. They are working tirelessly to ensure that those who have served are being looked after no matter what challenges they, and the country faces. Your donation will mean they can continue to provide the life-changing support that our Armed Forces community needs and deserves.

I served in the Royal Air Force for 38 years and in my time "Out of Area Operations (OOA)" were few and few between. I only did one to the middle of the desert in Saudi Arabia. I was probably better protected there by the alliance military hardware than walking down my local high street here.  Today's serving youngsters go OOA far more regularly and repeatedly. I take my hat off to them.

I've done a number of sponsored cycle rides before, but never one of this distance and over a number of days. I'm really excited about it already even though it doesn't start for another 15 months!  The daily distance to cover is a lot more than I usually do on a normal training ride, so I will definitely need to train for this one.  Wish me luck and thank you.

Please note that the RBL have asked me to make clear that a proportion of the funds that I raise will go toward covering the cost of my place in the event.
